Wipe Away

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 August 2026

Wipe Away ("we", "us", or "our") provides image-editing tools and related services through wipeaway.io (collectively, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains how we process information when you use the Services.

Contact us about privacy at support@wipeaway.io.

Scope

This policy applies to current and future Wipe Away Services unless a product-specific notice says otherwise. Magic Eraser is one Wipe Away tool. The Magic Eraser Chrome extension is optional and has additional, extension-specific disclosures below. You can use the Services without installing the extension. Third-party services we link to or use have their own policies.

Information we process

Images and masks

When you select an image and submit an Edit, we process the source image and the mask that identifies the Unwanted Objects you want removed. We use them only to provide the requested Edit.

Source images may be temporarily stored and processed by service providers for up to 24 hours. Masks are processed only to provide the requested Edit. Wipe Away does not persist completed image-editing outputs. A service provider may temporarily host an output image under its own policies; download an output you want to keep.

Service-operation information

After your first Accepted Edit Request, we set a cookie containing an Anonymous User ID. It distinguishes a browser profile without identifying a person. We use it for service operation and accepted-request usage analysis. It expires 12 months after the most recent Accepted Edit Request.

For each Accepted Edit Request, we retain an Edit Usage Record containing the Anonymous User ID, acceptance time, and service-operation details for up to 12 months. We may use your approximate location to apply the relevant service quota. We do not use it as a profile or precise-location record.

Technical diagnostics

We use a diagnostic service to diagnose errors and improve reliability. It receives technical diagnostic information when an error occurs. User data is not used in failure reports.

Optional analytics

Only after you allow analytics, Google Analytics processes browser and device information, pages viewed, and product-interaction events. We use this to understand and improve the Services. We disable Google Signals, advertising personalisation, and Google user IDs. We do not send the Anonymous User ID, image content, image URLs, filenames, masks, raw error messages, email addresses, provider identifiers, or model identifiers to Google Analytics.

For details and choices, see our Cookie Policy.

Magic Eraser Chrome extension

When you choose "Open in Magic Eraser" for an image, the extension accesses the selected image and its URL to fetch that image. It stores the image temporarily in Chrome session storage, then transfers it to Wipe Away to start the requested image-editing service. The extension does not collect browsing history or page content unrelated to the image you select.

After you reach the Services through the extension welcome page, toolbar, or a successful image import, the Web App stores the time of that event in a local ext record. This record stays in your browser, is not sent to our servers or Google Analytics, and is used only to decide whether to show the optional rate-us prompt after a later download.

The extension may direct you to an optional Google Form after uninstall or after a low rating. Information you submit there is handled by Google under Google's Privacy Policy.

Why we process information

We process images, masks, and the Anonymous User ID to provide the Services and operate Edit routing. We process Edit Usage Records and technical diagnostics to keep the Services reliable, prevent misuse, understand capacity, and improve it. We use analytics only where we have a valid legal basis, including consent where required.

Service providers and sharing

We use the following service providers to operate the Services. They process information only to provide their services to us, subject to their contractual obligations.

  • Cloudflare hosts the Services and temporarily stores source-image uploads.
  • BRIA and Replicate process source images and masks to provide image edits.
  • Sentry processes technical diagnostic information when errors occur.
  • Google Analytics for optional analytics.
  • Google Forms for optional feedback.

We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect Wipe Away, its users, or the public. Providers may process information outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

Retention

  • Temporary source-image uploads: up to 24 hours.
  • Anonymous User ID cookie: up to 12 months after the latest Accepted Edit Request.
  • Analytics-consent preference: 6 months from your choice.
  • Local extension-engagement record: 90 days after the latest qualifying extension event.
  • Google Analytics cookies: up to 6 months and removed when consent expires or is withdrawn.
  • Edit Usage Records: up to 12 months.
  • Completed image-editing outputs: not retained by Wipe Away; any provider-hosted output follows that provider's retention policy.
  • Diagnostic and analytics information: according to the relevant provider settings.

Your choices and rights

You can choose not to submit an image or use the Magic Eraser Chrome extension. You can decline or withdraw analytics consent at any time through Cookie settings in the Web App. You can also block or delete cookies through browser settings, although this can affect service operation. You can clear the local extension-engagement record by clearing site data for wipeaway.io; opening the uninstall feedback page also removes it.

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise a right, email support@wipeaway.io. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure.

Changes

We may update this policy as the Services or our practices change. We will publish the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The Magic Eraser Chrome extension's use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use extension user data only to provide or improve its image-import feature and related security and reliability. We do not sell extension user data, use it for personalised advertising, transfer it to data brokers, or use it to determine creditworthiness. We do not allow people to read extension user data except with your explicit consent, when necessary for security, to comply with law, or for aggregated and anonymised internal operations.
